Ball Theory
Working on the theory of the more you understand about how balls works would possibly make you better bowler
How does one learn about ball theory's Like pin displacement, PAP, drilling pattern etc I know they sometimes run drilling courses but these seem few and far between. Is there any web-pages someone could point me to? I know Tonx is very knowledgeable on this subject and happy to part with some info but where does one start. I had 2 balls drilled a few years ago by a very reputable person in Melb only to learn a few weeks ago my span was to wide and this has got me into some really bad habits that im finding hard to get out of If only I had know back then!! |

Gday Nev,
looking through the drilling and layouts archive here could be a good start. Who was the ball driller, and have you done the self span test to see who is right on the subject? Quick self span check is put your thumb in the ball, and fingers over the fingerholes. If not using a brace, the joins of the fingers should end up close to the middle of the hole. if using a brace, the joins should go just past the middle of the finger holes. Im trying to get a drilling course up and running because while I attended the TBA course for my "accreditation" there is no real content in those courses. It was quite funny sitting in that course where 80% of the participants in the course still use me to drill their stuff... Hopefully prices include a ball that the participant can drill for themselves during the course. With a ball, what would be a fair rate in your opinion for a weekend long course?

Hey Tonx,
Are you looking at holding this in Melbourne? Would it be over a weekend, or ? Shannon is very interested in learning how to drill etc. Thanks Mrs P.

Hi Nev,
The same conversation came up at bowling last week with regards to your same question. I am not knowledgeable about drilling but copied this name for you. He said google - BILL TAYLOR ~ Fitting & Drilling a bowling ball. Hope it helps...good luck. Mrs P.
